Zurab Zhvania discussed the construction of the modern Krasny Most - Poti highway with president of Italian Torno International construction company
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania discussed the construction of the modern Krasny Most - Poti highway with president of Italian Torno International construction company Gian Carlo Eliavalori, Mr. Zhvania's office told Novosti-Georgia agency. The prime minister told reporters "that the meeting resulted in signing a protocol of intent, in accordance with which the Italian and Georgian sides will make the necessary preparations for the implementation of the project, in particular, designing, raising funds and estimating the length of the project." According to him, the highway construction project will cost approximately $1 billion-$4 billion. After the highway is completed, a trip from Tbilisi to Poti will take 2-3 hours. According to Roman Dalakashvili, chairman of Georgia's Roads Department, two options are being considered now: either redesigning the existing road or building a new toll way along another route. If a new highway is built, the old road will become an alternative route, and a trip along it will be free. Torno International builds highways throughout Europe. It has already built a highway in Ukraine.
