Russia sends Brazil satellite from Sea Launch into Space
MISSION CONTROL CENTRE, January 11 (Itar-Tass) - A Russian Zenit-3 SL launch vehicle fired off on Sunday the Brazilian communications satellite Telstar-14/Estrela do Sul-1 from the floating Odyssey platform of the Sea Launch project. The spacecraft is designed to ensure direct telecasting on Brazil, the North and South Americas as well as on the North Atlantic. During the launch, the Odyssey platform was in the equatorial zone of the Pacific with the following coordinates: 0 degrees Latitude and 154 degrees of Western Longitude. The satellite was put into geostationary transfer orbit with the following parameters: -- inclination – 0 degrees, -- apogee – 35,904 kilometers, -- perigee – 758 kilometers. The Energia Space Corporation named after Korolyov is the head organisation from the Russian side on the commercial lift-off of the satellite.
