Scientists of Russian Chemical-Technological University have designed reliable individual and collective laser protection devices
Laser replaced scalpel in ophthalmology and surgery long ago. It is also widely used in industry. But laser radiation is harmful and people working with lasers need special protection means. Chemists have invented protective coating consisting of iron and copper compounds. They are applied on industrial sheet glass after its heating. Yellow and orange coatings are made of iron compounds and red coatings - of copper compounds. Experts created glasses and big color filters with these coatings. Tests have shown that both glasses and color filters are quite durable, chemical and thermal resistant. They can protect eyes from laser beams. Moreover, Russian color filters are cheaper than their foreign analogues.
