In 2005 Russia will spend, in tentative estimates, about 450 million rubles to train military specialists from member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization
In 2005 Russia will spend, in tentative estimates, about 450 million rubles to train military specialists from member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, its deputy general secretary Valery Semerikov told the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper. His interview is posted on the official web site of the Russian Foreign Ministry. "As regards the joint and preferential training of specialists, it has already been arranged. In December 2003 the Russian president instructed free training of military personnel for the CSTO countries," Semerikov said. "Proposals have been made and a corresponding decision is, I think, forthcoming," he added. "The sum for 2005 is, in preliminary estimate, about 450 million rubles, or 15 million dollars, from the federal budget. By the way, the United States is spending about 92 million dollars on the program of training the foreign personnel, including about 11.5 million dollars on the personnel from republics of the Commonwealth of Independent States," Semerikov said. As to military-technical cooperation between countries of the CSTO, he recalled that it has worked out matters of realization of the agreement on easy-term military supplies. Today the CSTO member states may file and get military products at reduced prices. The Collective Security Treaty Organization is made up of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Armenia.
