Russian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) accounted for 7,549,000 million rubles
Russian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) accounted for 7,549,000 million rubles in current prices (29 rubles equal approximately $1) in the first six months of 2004, while the growth rate of its real volume compared with the first six months of 2003 was 107.4%. These data were circulated on Wednesday by the Federal Service of State Statistics (ROSSTAT). The GDP volume in the second quarter of 2004 made up 3,946,600 million rubles in current prices while the growth rate of its real volume compared to the second quarter of 2003 and the first quarter of 2004 amounted to 107.4% and 106.2% respectively. In addition, changes were introduced to the GDP data for the first quarter of 2004. As a result the GDP volume for the first quarter of 2004 made up in current prices 3,602,400 million. The growth rate of its real volume compared to the corresponding period of last year accounted for 107.5%. The output index of products and services in five basic economic sectors (industry, construction, agriculture, transport, retail trade) in January-July of the current year compared to the corresponding period of 2003 was 107.6%, and in July 2004 the year-on-year figure was 106.3%.
