Life imprisonment for two men involved in the blowing up houses in Moscow
The Moscow City Court sentenced on Monday to life imprisonment two men on charges of involvement in the blowing up of apartment houses in Moscow and Volgodonsk in the autumn of 1999. The men are Adam Dekkushev, 42, and Yusuf Krymshamkhalov, 37, both from the Republic of Karachaevo--Cherkessia. They were accused of terrorism, murders with special cruelty, membership in illegal armed groups, transportation and production of explosive devices. The investigation showed that Dekkushev and Krymshamkhalov were directly involved in the organisation and perpetration of explosions of apartment houses in Moscow and Volgodonsk. They helped transport the explosive materials, planned to be used in the acts of terrorism. A total of 224 people died as a result of the blowing up of apartment houses in Guryanov Street and the Kashira Highway, Moscow, on September 9 and 13, 1991. The blowing up of an apartment house in Volgodonsk on September 16, 1999, claimed the lives of 19 people. Another 100 were injured.
