Yugansnefetgaz may be stripped of the right to produce oil
Yukos's main earner - Yugansnefetgaz - may be stripped of the right to produce oil. This is how the Natural Resources Ministry is going to punish the company for non-payment of taxes. Besides, Yugansk without a production licence would get visibly cheaper, and court bailiffs will find it easier to sell it to a domestic company, analysts explain. A source close to the Ministry told Vedomosti that the Yukos subsidiary is very likely to have its licence revoked. But wells on Yugansk deposits will not have to be killed - most probably, until a new tender is announced, a temporary licence for these fields will be granted to the same Yugansk or any other oil company. Analysts are sure that the government needs to recall the licence from Yugansk in order to lower the price of this company before selling it. "Few have $12-14 billion to purchase Yuganskneftegaz," argues Steven Dashevsky from Aton. "In this case, however, licences can be put up for tender with investment conditions and Yugansk itself, complete with infrastructure, may cost $1-2 billion".
