Only a small number of children at the North Ossetian town of Beslan went to school on Wednesday
The teachers and guards with submachine-guns met them on the threshold. On the day before sappers searched all the schools, and nothing suspicious was found. Two out of 26 pupils of 7 B class came to school. "I am not only a teacher but also a mother," tutor of 7 B class Fatima Gusalova says. She left her children Ruslan and Aslan at home. "I saw everything being checked, but it is fearsome all the same. But I think that life will be different tomorrow, and our children will go to school," Mrs. Gusalova told RIA Novosti. The tenth form pupils of school No.6 brought flowers to school No.1 before the beginning of the first lesson. "Today our classes began with a lesson of memory. We intended to conduct a lesson of Peace on September 1, but it will be quite different today - very sorrowful and bitter," tutor of 10 A class Elvira Takayeva said. Together with her tenth form pupils, she brought flowers, candles and a book of poems to school No.1. They want to recite poems on the threshold of the damaged school. "It is necessary to study, life is gaining the upper hand. And all of us are going to school without flowers because flowers are a bad omen now," eighth form pupil Ilya Luzhkov said. Though very few children of Beslan came to school, the womenwho are sweeping the streets near their houses, when asked "What is the news?", answer, "The children went to study".
