A court in Khabarovsk in Russia's Far East sanctioned the arrest
A court in Khabarovsk in Russia's Far East sanctioned the arrest on Wednesday of a drunk driver, who ploughed into a group of traffic officers, killing two of them, a police source said.

A Toyota vehicle, which was not displaying license plates, crashed into four traffic officers as they were investigating a road traffic accident on a highway linking the two Far Eastern cities of Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

Two of the officers died and another two were hospitalized with serious injuries.

The intoxicated driver and passengers fled the vehicle, but were detained several hours later.

The driver faces up to seven years in prison if found guilty.
