The World Money Show, a global investment forum, opens in Orlando
The World Money Show, a global investment forum, opens in Orlando on Wednesday amid what the organizers call a "market wrenching economic transition."

The forum aims to provide opportunities for companies selling stock and potential private investors to meet without mediators. Up to 15,000 participants from over 80 countries are expected to attend, with over 14,500 investors already registered.

The forum has grown in importance as "more and more investors seek out profitable investment opportunities around the globe, and the Internet continues to level the playing field for individual investors," the organizers said.

The World Money Show, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, comes amid an economic slowdown in the U.S. with knock-on effects in Europe and other markets.

Russia, whose stock market continues to boom despite difficulties abroad, is likely to be a focus of the "annual portfolio checkup" in Orlando. The Russian investment market will be presented at pavilions of RIA Novosti and the Russian Chamber of Commerce in the United States.

This year RIA Novosti will feature as a national media partner of the World Economic Forum along with leading financial media outlets including Nikkei Business Daily, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal.
