Russia's flagship carrier Aeroflot has received a new Airbus A320 under a leasing contract, a company spokesman said on Tuesday.

"This is the second aircraft obtained this year under an operational leasing deal signed in February 2007 with the Royal Bank of Scotland," the spokesman said, adding that another nine A320 planes would be acquired later this year.

Aeroflot currently has 36 Airbus planes in total. The airline uses A320 planes, one of the world's best medium-haul aircraft, on a wide number of European and domestic flights.

The company has 83 planes in total and accounts for 51% of Russia's international air traffic and 12% of domestic flights, handling flights to 93 destinations in 47 countries.
