WBA Heavyweight World Champion Ruslan Chagaev from Uzbekistan
WBA Heavyweight World Champion Ruslan Chagaev from Uzbekistan will meet in a mandatory title defense rematch with former champion Nikolai Valuev from Russia on May 31 at Germany's Oberhausen Arena.

"The Beast from the East" Valuev (48-1, 34 KOs) lost the WBA title to "White Tyson" Chagaev (24-0, 17KOs, 1 draw) last April. He suffered in the process the first defeat in his career and also failed to equal the record of the legendary Rocky Marciano, who retired at 49-0, - the only heavyweight champion to win every fight in his career.

Valuev, 34, the largest and heaviest boxing champion of all time at 213 cm (7 feet) and up to 151 kg (333 lbs), earned a chance to regain the title after defeating Sergei "White Wolf" Lyakhovich (23-3, 14KOs) from Belarus last month in a WBA title eliminator bout in Germany's Nuremberg.

Boxing Web site FightNews.com said the right to promote the long-awaited rematch was won yesterday in Panama by Universum Box-Promotion, which offered a bid of almost $4.5 million, outbidding Sauerland Event and Don King Productions.
