A ceremony of the beginning of the construction of a bulk-oil terminal take place in Primorsk
A ceremony of the beginning of the construction of a bulk-oil terminal and of the new export oil pipeline Kstovo - Yaroslavl - Kirishi - Primorsk will take place in Primorsk (the Leningrad Region) on Friday, October 8 As the press centre of the Leningrad Region's government said, the first phase of the oil products pipeline will have a capacity of 8.4 million tons of light oil products and a length of 1,056 km. The design capacity is 24.6 million tons a year. The press centre officials stressed that the construction of the oil products pipeline with an outlet to the Baltic Sea coast in the area of the Primorsk sea port is of strategic importance for Russia because it will allow its export independence to be strengthened. Today the greater part of the export of light oil products from Russia goes through the Ventspils sea port (Latvia) and to a smaller extent through the St. Petersburg terminal, the press centre officials noted. The project was approved by an ordinance of Russia's government and included in the long-term federal programmes of development of the fuel and energy complex. The implementation of the project will bring $200 million a year into the country's budget
