A train crashed into a herd of cows on Tuesday
A train crashed into a herd of cows on Tuesday in Thuringia, central Germany, in the second such incident since Sunday, national TV reported.

The accident occurred on a rail line linking the towns of Arnstadt and Ilmenau. No information on human casualties has yet been released, but eight cows are said to have been killed.

Incidents involving high-speed trains and livestock have become a matter of concern in Germany after a train carrying over 170 passengers slammed into a flock of sheep in Hessen, central Germany, on Sunday. Four carriages derailed as a result, injuring 25 people, three of them seriously.

It remains unclear how the sheep found their way into an 11-km tunnel near the city of Fulda. A spokesman for the state-run Deutsche Bahn company, which operates the rail line, said that due to "considerable" damage the line could be closed for several days.
