Russian border guards have detained two vessels on suspicion
Russian border guards have detained two vessels on suspicion of crab poaching in Russia's Far East, the press office of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said Monday.

The two vessels flying a Cambodian flag were detained in Russia's economic zone near the eastern part of Sakhalin. They were carrying over 130 tons of crab.

"The detained vessels have been escorted to the port of Korsakov [near the southern end of Sakhalin] for further investigations," FSB's press service said in a statement.

This year Russia has launched a crackdown on illegal exports of crab and other seafood. In May 2007, Russia banned the export of live crab, but large volumes continue to be smuggled out of the country, primarily to Japan and South Korea.
