The winners of the Russian Defense Ministry's auction
The winners of the Russian Defense Ministry's auction to sell two military properties in Moscow are structures close to billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, business daily Vedomosti reported on Wednesday.

At an auction held by Russia's Defense Ministry on Tuesday, the first property, a military base located on the exclusive Rublyovskoye highway in western Moscow, went for 2.6 billion rubles ($110 mln). The lot consisted of buildings, facilities and three plots of land.

The second property, on Levoberezhnaya street in northwest Moscow covering a total area of 28,400 square meters, was sold for 1.145 billion rubles ($48.5 mln).

According to Vedomosti, each property was contested by two organizations. However, competition appears to have been limited, with the winners paying only one bid increment above the starting price for both lots.

Prokhorov is ranked sixth on Forbes' list of Russian billionaires, with wealth estimated at $19.5 billion, making him the world's 24th richest person.
