Russia's budget surplus stood at 1.26 trillion rubles ($53 billion)
Russia's budget surplus stood at 1.26 trillion rubles ($53 billion) or 8.2% of GDP in January-May, the Finance Ministry said on Monday.

The federal budget surplus was 771 billion rubles ($32.5 billion) or 6.7% of GDP in the same period of last year, the ministry said.

In January-May 2008, federal budget revenue was 3.7 trillion rubles ($156.1 billion) or 45.9% of overall revenue projected in the 2008 budget, while expenditure amounted to 2.44 trillion rubles ($103 billion), or 32.9% of overall spending for this year, the ministry said.
