The Federal Energy Agency has responded to Transneft's request and designated a company to sell Yukos oil
The Federal Energy Agency has responded to Transneft's request and designated a company to sell Yukos oil, Sergei Oganesyan, the head of the agency, told RIA Novosti. Transneft will receive Yukos oil as payment for transit since the end of September, approximately 400,000 metric tons a month. Yukos was forced to pay Transneft in oil because of Yukos and its subsidiaries' accounts were arrested because of tax claims. "We proposed an operator that can make sales, a small Russian trading company," Mr. Oganesyan said. He said the operator was chosen without a tender and added that the operator might agree before the Transneft board meeting. "The approval does not require the board meeting," he said, "the matter can be settled promptly." Transneft Vice President Sergei Grigoryev said he knew nothing about whether the Federal Energy Agency had responded to Transneft's request.
