Palestinian troops shot dead an unarmed Palestinian teenager on the border
Palestinian troops shot dead an unarmed Palestinian teenager on the border with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, the first fatality in a three-week ceasefire, Gaza health officials said on Thursday.

"The Palestinian was killed while attempting to infiltrate Israel. Israelis have contacted us and proposed that we recover the body from the Kissufim border crossing," the health officials said.

The incident occurred three weeks after a June 19 ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza. Under the deal, Israel agreed to reopen its border crossings with the Gaza Strip to allow the supplies of essential goods into the Palestinian territory.

The deal is limited to the enclave and has already been broken by Gaza-based militants who fired rockets into Israel in response to Israeli 'aggression' in the West Bank.

Hamas seized control of Gaza from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement more than a year ago.
