UC RusAl, established in March 2007 through a merger of Russian aluminum giants RusAl and SUAL and Swiss Glencore's alumina assets, said its alumina output had increased 1.4% to 5.6 million tons. Silicon production grew 9.3% to 31,093 tons.
The company produced 9.045 million tons of bauxites in the reporting period, a 6.5% growth against the first half of 2007.
Total revenues grew by 14% to $8 billion year-on-year. Revenues from sales on the Russian market increased by 16.2% to $1.8 billion, and outside Russia by 13% to $6.2 billion.
UC RusAl accounts for approximately 12% and 15% of global production of aluminum and alumina respectively. The company sells its products in 70 countries worldwide and employs 100,000 people in 19 countries.
