Israeli troops arrested 24 Hamas members in the northern
Israeli troops arrested 24 Hamas members in the northern West Bank city of Nablus on Monday, Palestinian radio reported.

Eyewitnesses were quoted as saying that the soldiers entered the Nablus Mall trading center at dawn and arrested the shop management and staff, as well as several students and Muna Mansur, a Hamas MP.

Similar raids are often performed by the Israeli army as part of antiterrorist measures in the West Bank, which is not covered by the Gaza Strip truce reached between Israel and Hamas on June 19. Most of the detained are usually released after interrogation.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the raids as hampering the development of Palestinian society.

Under the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza, Israel agreed to reopen its border crossings with the Gaza Strip to allow the supplies of essential goods into the Palestinian territory.
