On Wednesday in the Kremlin Vladimir Putin and Silvio Berlusconi will sum up the results of the implementation of a number of joint initiatives
On Wednesday in the Kremlin Vladimir Putin and Silvio Berlusconi will sum up the results of the implementation of a number of joint initiatives in the sphere of cultural-humanitarian interaction. Italy's Chairman of the Council of Ministers arrived in Moscow the day before for a two-day official visit. "Some results of the implementation of the joint initiatives in the sphere of bilateral cultural-humanitarian interaction will be summed up in the course of the talks of Vladimir Putin and Silvio Berlusconi," a source in the Kremlin told RIA Novosti. According to him, the sides will discuss, in particular, the Agreement on Simplifying the Issue of Visas to citizens of Russia and Italy which was signed in Moscow on June 15, 2004 and is designed to facilitate mutual contacts of young people, scientists, cultural figures, educators, entrepreneurs, and state employees of the two countries. The exhibition Russia-Italy: Through Centuries, the largest in recent time in the field of bilateral cultural relations, is being successfully held in Rome these days. In February 2005 this exhibition will move into Moscow to be offered to the public in the halls of the Pushkin Fine Arts Museum. The accord on holding Weeks of Culture and Language of Russia and Italy at Russian and Italian schools, and on organising mutual trips of schoolchildren was implemented. The Provision on a Joint Award of the President of the Russian Federation and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy for special services in the development of bilateral relations was agreed upon. Honorary diplomas will be presented to the first winners of the Joint Award on Wednesday. The work to organise a Russian-Italian forum along the lines of civil societies is nearing completion. The first event along the forum lines - the Round Table meeting: Civil Society and Country's Image: Russia's Experience, Italy's Experience - took place within the visit on Tuesday. "Italy is a leading European partner of Russia the political dialogue with which, specifically at top level, has acquired new dynamism in the past few years, is of a character of partnership and confidence, and is aimed at ensuring the two countries' bilateral cooperation," the source in the Kremlin told RIA Novosti.
