Viktor Yushchenko is leading in the first round of the presidential elections in Ukraine, chairman of the Ukrainian Central Election Commission Sergei Kivalov told a briefing on Wednesday. He gained 11,125,395 votes (39.87%). Viktor Yanukovich is one step behind with 10,969,579 votes (39.32%). Viktor Yushchenko is leading in 17 Ukrainian regions, including Western Ukraine and Kiev, while his rival is leading in ten regions, mainly central parts of the country and the Crimea. The second round of the presidential elections will be held on November 21
