The 4th international festival of independent theatres and new dramaturgy, Sib-Altera, opens in Novosibirsk on Friday
The 4th international festival of independent theatres and new dramaturgy, Sib-Altera, opens in Novosibirsk on Friday, RIA Novosti was told at its organising committee. Sib-Altera is the only Russian festival which features above all independent non-state theatre companies and also young Russian and foreign dramatists, the organising committee said. According to the organisers, the festival's main aim is to represent experimental directions in Russian and European theatre art. Theatres from Siberian cities, as well as theatres from Armenia, Belarus, Germany and Switzerland will participate in Sib-Altera. The second open contest of dramatists, New Style, will also be held as part of the project. The festival is being supported by the Council for Culture and Art under the Russian president, the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinema of Russia, the Union of Theatrical Workers of Russia, and also the culture department of the Novosibirsk region and Novosibirsk City Hall
