Tom Hanks is expected to play the role of professor Robert Langdon
Hollywood actor Tom Hanks is expected to play the role of professor Robert Langdon, who unravels the mystery of the Holy Grail in the film version of Dan Brown's phenomenally successful novel "The Da Vinci Code." Hanks has emerged as director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer's top choice for the lead role in the film, which Columbia Pictures hopes to begin shooting next year. And talks have begun for the actor to join the project. "Tom is an exciting actor to watch thinking," Howard was quoted as saying in the latest issue of Newsweek. "We probably don't need his status from a box office standpoint, but he gives Langdon instant legitimacy", informs Reuters. Director Ron Howard, who worked with Tom Hanks on 'Apollo 13', is now looking for a French actress to play cryptologist Sophie Neveu, who assists Langdon when he is called in to help solve the murder of a top curator at The Louvre in Paris. Filming is due to start in Paris, where the story begins, next Spring, before the cast and crew move to London and Scotland, said Ireland Online
