Zenit St. Petersburg drew for a fourth
Zenit St. Petersburg drew for a fourth time in a row on Wednesday evening, and now need a "miracle" to qualify for next season's Champions League, said Andrei Arshavin.

The 2007 Russian champions opened the scoring in their home match against lowly Moscow Region side Saturn, Viktor Faizulin finding the net from the edge of the penalty area in the 7th minute. It was Faizulin who had given Zenit the lead on Sunday in their 1-1 draw in Tomsk, but as in Siberia, the side were quickly pegged back.

The equalizer came just two minutes later, ex-Russian international Andrei Karyaka taking advantage of a dreadful error by Zenit defender Roman Shirokov to fire his side level.

More indecisiveness in the UEFA Cup holders' defense led to the guests taking the lead four minutes before half time, Croatian striker Topich hitting his ninth goal of the season.

A win would have left Zenit in fourth place, just two points behind Dynamo Moscow, who they play at home on November 16. The top three teams qualify for next season's Champions League and the fourth and fifth sides go into the less prestigious UEFA Cup.

However, as time ran out, Zenit were left scrambling for an equalizer that would at least leave them some hope of making Europe's top club competition. They eventually got their second, Fatih Tekke nodding home from an Igor Denisov cross, but there was no time for a third, and Saturn came away with a well-earned point.

"Only a miracle will enable us to play in next year's Champions League," Arshavin said on his personal website.

In the evening's other game, Lokomotiv Moscow beat bottom club Shinnik 3-0 in the capital.
