The USS Mount Whitney maneuvered for some three hours
The USS Mount Whitney maneuvered for some three hours in the Black Sea near the Ukrainian port of Sevastopol on Thursday, but did not dock at the port as previously planned.

There has been no official comment on why the warship did not dock at the port from either the city administration or the Ukrainian navy.

However, sources in the municipal authority said that the visit of the USS Mount Whitney did not take place because of some problems with the documents it needed to cross the state border.

Some, 200 people gathered at the port to protest the U.S. warship's arrival, saying that they were against NATO's presence in Sevastopol.

The Blue Ridge class ship is a command and control vessel that coordinates a group of NATO ships now in the Black Sea, including two U.S., one Spanish, one German and one Polish ship.
