German judge Christoph Flieger will hear the case of former Bosnian
German judge Christoph Flieger will hear the case of former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic at the Hague tribunal, replacing new court president Patrick Robinson, Serbian B92 radio reported on Thursday.

Robinson was appointed president of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia on Monday, and court regulations preclude its head from trying cases.

Karadzic, 63, was arrested in late July in Belgrade after more than a decade on the run. He faces 11 charges, including for genocide and war crimes. He refused to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty in August, and has said he will not get a fair trial.

British judge Iain Bonomy is presiding over the hearings, and the third judge in the case is Michelle Picard of France.

The panel is due to decide soon whether to proceed with the indictment against Karadzic filed by the prosecution in late September, B92 reported.
