On December 3 the Mariinsky Theater will give a charity concert in Rome to help victims of the terrorist attack on Beslan. The soloists and orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater conducted by creative director Valery Gergiyev will be held as part of the Days of Russian Culture in Italy, the theater's press service said. The proceeds from the concert will be used both to help victims of the terrorist act in the North Ossetian town and on long-term projects to support the North Caucasian region, the press service noted. Among them is training of young Ossetian musicians, assistance to theaters and music schools and opening of a cultural center. The performance in Rome will continue the series of concerts organized by the St. Petersburg theater, which were held already in Paris, London and New York. The Mariinsky Theater plans to hold charity concerts and other events to back the North Caucasian region, the press service stressed
