Two Russian Premier League sides from the Moscow Region, Saturn
Two Russian Premier League sides from the Moscow Region, Saturn FC and Khimki, are to merge in a bid to overcome mounting financial difficulties, the press office of the regional governor said on Tuesday.

The press release said that, "in connection with the difficult financial and economic situation," the regional soccer authorities had agreed with the clubs that they would merge as from next season.

According to preliminary information, the new Moscow Region club will take the name Saturn, and will play in both Khimki and Ramenskoe. The latter Moscow Region city is home to Saturn.

Saturn and Khimki finished 11th and 14th in the 16-team league this year. The bottom two teams were relegated, but the decision to merge may now mean that the side that finished 15th, Vladivostok's Luch-Energiya, stays up. The Russian season runs from March to November.
