Over 200,000 domain names are registered in the Russian Internet domain (Runet)
Over 200,000 domain names are registered in the Russian Internet domain (Runet), Mikhail Seslavinsky, head of the federal press and mass communications agency, reported on Tuesday. "However, this number does not reflect the power and importance of the Russian Internet domain, which contains many web sites with third-level domain names," he said. According to Mr. Seslavinsky, in 2004 Runet turns ten. "In the early 1990s Internet was available to enthusiasts and specialists and subsequently evolved into a mass phenomena," he noted. He hopes that Internet will be available to each family in everyday life like television and radio. The Russian Internet domain is a vast informational space, the agency's head said. "Moreover, we see rapid development of the electronic labor market," Mikhail Seslavinsky continued. He congratulated Runet users and companies contributing to its development as an effective branch of Russian economy on this anniversary
