Anastasia Myskina said that Russia's victory in the Federation Cup had been her main aim this year
Russian No.1 Anastasia Myskina said at a Thursday press conference in Moscow that Russia's victory in the Federation Cup had been her main aim this year. "I at last realized my dream with my friends Larisa Savchenko-Neiland and Shamil Tarpishchev," said Myskina. When speaking about her plans for next season, which will start in a month, Myskina emphasized that she would like to continue playing for the national team in the Federation Cup. "I am always pleased to play for my country, it's a great honor, and if Shamil Tarpishchev calls me up next year, I will naturally agree," said the Russian tennis player. Speaking about relations with tennis player Maria Sharapova, Anastasia Myskina said there was no conflict. "I have said many times and will say once again: there is no conflict between me and Masha. The issue is the disrespectful behavior of her father," said Myskina. In the opinion of team captain Shamil Tarpishchev, Yuri Sharapov's actions negatively affect his daughter's rivals and Maria herself. Tarpishchev said he had had a long conversation with Yuri Sharapov last Monday. "I see no conflict," said Tarpishchev. "I want to see Sharapova playing for Russia instead of the U.S. As for communication between team members, tennis players should talk and find a solution. If during exercises or preparation for the match a conflict arises, the coaching staff will intervene."
