The 11th annual international conference on the Russian Banking Sector opens in London on Tuesday
The organizers said along with the usual plenary meetings, reports and speeches on the main developments in Russia's banking sector, a number of new special activities are also planned for the three-day conference. The new events include panel discussions on retail banking, insurance, pensions and mortgages. Also a master class on financial instruments and special sessions on regional banking and Russia's interbank market will be held during the conference. Federal Financial Markets Service head Oleg Vyugin, Transkreditbank Senior Vice President Pavel Golenkov, head of the international department of Uralsib Jyrki Talvitie, Senior Banker - Financial Institutions of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Nick Tesseyman and other leading representatives of Russian and international banking institutions will participate in the forum. Agency for Deposit Insurance General Director Alexander Turbanov will discuss the first results and the impact the deposit insurance guarantee scheme will produce on the banking industry in the future. "2004 was a turning point in Russia's banking sector reform," the organizers said. "The deposit insurance guarantee scheme, the expected changes to mergers and acquisition law, the regulation of the foreign currency market, and more effective supervision and control are all occurring now and will be discussed in London."
