Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered to the government to consider an intergovernmental loan to Belarus
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered to the government to consider an intergovernmental loan to Belarus “if there is the need” for solving the latest gas problem. Putin said after a government meeting on Monday that he “talked with Mikhail Kasyanov and ordered to the chairman of the government to think over a possibility of issuing such a credit”. Russian gas companies recently have curtailed exports to Belarus after it delayed renewing a contract for buying gas. “ The chairman of the government has agreed and is ready to elaborate this question,” Putin said. However, since Kasyanov is on a brief vacation, the president ordered to Deputy Prime Ministers Alexei Kudrin and Viktor Khristenko to attend to the matter. “If it is necessary, consider with your Belarussian colleagues and solve the question of issuing the credit to Belarus in an amount it needs in order no problems arise for domestic users and enterprises,” Putin said.
