Udmurtneft, the largest oil producer in the central Russian republic
Udmurtneft, the largest oil producer in the central Russian republic of Udmurtia, said on Wednesday its oil output increased 2.3% year-on-year in 2008 to 6.3 million metric tons (46 million barrels).

"With every passing year, the republic's largest oil producing enterprise increases oil output. In 2007, the company surpassed a level of 6 million tons [44 million barrels], reaching 6.145 million tons [45 million barrels) of hydrocarbons. In 2008, this indicator rose by another 142,000 tons [1.04 million barrels]," the company said in a statement.

In 2008, Udmurtneft drilled 37 new oil wells, the statement said.

The Republic of Udmurtia is located in the eastern part of the East European Plain between the Kama River and its tributary Vyatka.
