The Yukos issue was not discussed by the Russian and French prime ministers
"We did not discuss this issue. France's position is well known. We respect court procedures. Therefore, there will be no comments on the issue," French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin said at a press conference. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, in turn, said, "We did not discuss Yukos, but considering its wide coverage in the media, it was inevitably present in the thoughts and considerations." "Though not discussing the Yukos issue, we stressed that Russia had a comfortable environment for cooperation and stronger interaction at the business level," said Mr. Fradkov. He also said that Russia was ready to consider facilitating tax and customs procedures regarding assembly units for French Renault cars, provided that part of the components were produced in Russia. "Under consideration is the signing of an investment agreement between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the importer on forming sectors that would produce some components in Russia," said Mr. Fradkov. "We are ready to consider some measures to facilitate the tax and customs administration but support will only be provided if some car components are produced in Russia," he said
