The 37th international hockey tour will start at the Luzhniki sports center on Thursday, December 16
The 37th international hockey tour will start at the Luzhniki sports center on Thursday, December 16. It has a new sponsor, the ROSNO insurance company. The national teams of Russia, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Finland will traditionally participate in the competition. The winner will be determined in a one-leg tournament. The matches the Czech Republic-Sweden (15.00 Moscow time) and Russia-Finland (19.00) will be played on the first day of the tournament. Saturday, December 18 will see the matches Russia-Sweden (13.00) and the Czech Republic-Finland (17.00). The ROSNO Cup will close on Sunday with the matches the Czech Republic-Russia (13.00) and Finland-Sweden (17.00). Finland is leading after the previous leg of the Eurohockey-tour (the Karjala Cup) with 6 points. It is followed by Sweden (5 points), the Czech Republic (4 points), and Russia (3 points). The first competitions of this kind were held in November-December 1967 (the Moscow international tournament). In 1969 it was named the Izvestia Cup. The newspaper sponsored the tournament until 1996. It was held annually except in 1991. In 1997-2003 it was renamed the Baltika Brewery Cup. However, after the adoption of the law prohibiting beer advertising the competitions had to change the sponsor in the title. The Soviet national team used to win the tournament more frequently than the others (19 times). The Russian national team won six victories, Czechoslovakia - four victories, the Czech Republic and Sweden - two victories and Canada and Finland - one victory. The Russian team won its last victory in Moscow in 2000
