Two people are missing following an avalanche that engulfed the Kol-Chaty
Two people are missing following an avalanche that engulfed the Kol-Chaty village in southern Kyrgyzstan, a local emergencies spokesman said on Wednesday.

The avalanche containing an estimated 6,000 cubic meters of snow hit the village late on Tuesday.

"Local people searched for the missing people on their own overnight, and an emergencies team of 12 rescuers and special vehicles arrived at the site on the morning of February 25," the spokesman said.

Several other avalanches have been reported in Kyrgyz mountainous areas over the past 24 hours. There have been no reports of casualties.
