Mikhail Khodorkovsky is upset that company managers have filed a lawsuit with an American court
Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the ex-chief of the YUKOS oil major, is upset that company managers have filed a lawsuit with an American court. "This is a deplorable development," Mr. Khodorkovsky said in the statement circulated by his press center. However, Mr. Khodorkovsky believes he cannot blame the company's foreign managers and board of directors for the move. "They [the managers and the board of directors] did more to save the company than they could be expected to, and now they are trying to protect their own reputation," said Mr. Khodorkovsky. "This will not help the shareholders, however," believes the businessman. Yukos filed a statement on restructuring with a bankruptcy court in Houston, Texas, which complies with the US law on bankruptcy. Yukos requested the court to issue an instruction to put off the auction for the sale of Yuganskneftegaz scheduled for December 19. The company believes the relevant court ruling can protect all of its shareholders' interests.
