From June 12 to 26, 2005 the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory will host the Svyatoslav Richter international competition of pianists. Professional pianists over 23 from all countries will be able to take part in the event. The competition will be timed to coincide with the 90th birth anniversary of the great musician, Asir Rosenberg, director of the charity foundation of the Svyatoslav Richter international competition of pianists, said at a press conference on Friday. According to him, the main idea of the contest is to let mature musicians participate in the competition. "The programs of the rounds are complicated and rich. In the first round the participants are to present a 60-minute free program. The program of the second round will be also free and last for 70-75 minutes. During the third round two serious concerts will be performed," he said. The jury will comprise acclaimed musicians Dmitry Bashkirov, Eliso Virsaladze, Yuri Temirkanov, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Natalia Gutman, Oleg Maisenberg (Austria), Minoru Nojima (Japan), Peter Kosse (Germany) and others. No more than 30 people will participate in the first round, 12 in the second and six in the finals. The winner of the competition will get $30,000 and the right to record a CD. The second and third awards are worth $20,000 and $15,000.
