More than 13,000 people fell victim to the tsunami that hit the South Asian region, Russia's emergencies ministry told RIA Novosti on Monday. Over 4,500 people died in Sri Lanka, over 3,000 in India, more than 4,500 people in Indonesia, and over 500 in Thailand. The disaster also hit Bangladesh, Myanmar and the Maldives. 32 quakes with magnitude of 5.5 to 8.5 were registered in the Indian Ocean within 4 am and 10.03 pm Moscow time on December 26, reports the Russian Academy of Sciences geophysical service. Tremors of different magnitude were detected on Sri Lanka, in India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Maldives, Myanmar and Bangladesh. The earthquake generated a tsunami 5 to 10 meters high
