None of the 468 Kamchatka tourists want to go home
None of the 468 Kamchatka tourists, who had left for Thailand's Pataya and Phuket resorts, want to go home; all of them have decided to stay on, RIA Novosti learned at the Kamchatka regional administration here today. Nine travel agencies sent tourists to these resorts over the last four days, Tamara Tutushkina, chief of the regional department of foreign-economic ties and tourism, noted. All in all, three chartered flights took 468 people to Thai resorts over the December 24-26 period. Most Kamchatka tourists were staying in the Karon Beach (Phuket) area; meanwhile the incoming tsunami devastated Patong Beach (Phuket) most of all. Some tourists learned about the tragedy only after their worried relatives reached them over the phone. None of the Kamchatka tourists was hurt.
