Turkish health officials said on Saturday 11 people, including three Germans
Turkish health officials said on Saturday 11 people, including three Germans tourists, have died since March 21 from drinking home-distilled alcohol.

The latest victim to die after drinking "fake" raki, an aniseed flavored liquor considered the national drink, was a resident from Bursa in west Turkey, a health ministry statement said.

Turkish authorities plan to introduce tighter controls and harsher sentencing to try and stop the spread of illegal alcohol.

In 2005, twenty-two people died after drinking bootleg liquor in Turkey.
