An eight-year-old girl rescued five children from a burning house
An eight-year-old girl rescued five children from a burning house in Russia's Samara Region, but failed to save her younger sister, local investigators said on Tuesday.

The blaze occurred while her four brothers and sisters and two other children were playing at home. Investigators believe the fire started accidently when the children played with matches.

The eight-year-old managed to lead five children out of the building, but could not rescue her 2-year-old sister.

It took firefighters 3.5 hours to tackle the blaze, which spread over an area of 250 square meters.

All the children had been left home alone without adult supervision.
