A 10-year-old boy in north Brazil's state of Para has survived
A 10-year-old boy in north Brazil's state of Para has survived after a fishing spear hit him in the head, local media said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when the boy was swimming in a river where underwater fishing is permitted. Surgeons said the spear fired from a gun entered the boy's face just under his eye.

The boy miraculously underwent surgery to remove the spear and ophthalmic specialists said there was no threat to his eyesight.

It is the second case reported in Brazil in a month. In late March, a 19-year-old fisherman from Rio de Janeiro became a victim of his own spear gun while fishing. The spear, which did not damage his brain, was successfully removed.
