Twelve people are missing after a fishing vessel with 22 crewmembers on board capsized off the coast of Japan's southern Nagasaki Prefecture, the Japanese coast guard said on Tuesday.

The ship, which was catching mackerel, flipped over 10 kilometers (6 miles) off the coast at around 08:30 am local time [23:30 GMT] in strong winds.

Other vessels in the area managed to pick up 10 people.

A search for the remaining 12 crewmembers is continuing.
