The team of Viktor Yanukovich has lodged a protest with the Central Election Commission
The team of presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovich has lodged a protest with the Central Election Commission (CEC) concerning the election results of the runoff second round in all of the 225 electoral districts. Zoya Sharikova, head of the CEC press center, told Novosti Ukraine that Nestor Shufrich, an official spokesman of Mr. Yanukovich, lodged the protest. According to a source in the CEC, the Commission refused to accept some of the complaints because they were filed after midnight December 29. The election staff of Mr. Yanukovich also lodged four complaints with the Supreme Court concerning violations permitted during the second round, RIA Novosti learned in the press service of the Court. The spokespersons of Mr. Yanukovich did it on December 28 after 6:00 p.m. local time. According to preliminary CEC data, the processing of 100% of ballots cast at the second round of the presidential election showed that Viktor Yanukovich got 44.19% and Viktor Yushchenko, 51.99% of the vote
