Russia's WBA heavyweight title holder Nikolai Valuev has no doubts
Russia's WBA heavyweight title holder Nikolai Valuev has no doubts of his victory over Ruslan Chagaev of Uzbekistan in their title fight on May 30 in Helsinki, the FightNews.com website reported.

"I am coming to Helsinki to show that I am the real champion," Valuev told a joint press conference with Chagaev on Tuesday in Helsinki. "I have improved a lot. I have no doubts that I will leave the ring victorious this time."

Chagaev, who wore a tee-shirt with "The Real Champion" printed on the back of it, was less emotional, only saying he would repeat his April 2007 defeat of Valuev.

"I have beaten Valuev once and I will beat him again. I don't understand what all that talk is about. I am the champion," he said.

Valuev (50-1, 34 KOs), dubbed the Russian Giant, lost his title bout to White Tyson Chagaev in April of 2007 suffering his only career defeat up to date. They later scheduled a rematch, first for May 2008 and then July, but the match was postponed after Chagaev was injured and declared champion in recess.

The Russian added that improvements in his boxing techniques largely owed to his new coach Alexander Zimin.

"I have made a lot of key changes since the defeat two years ago. I have appointed a new head coach, Alexander Zimin. He has changed my training routine completely and has made me a much better fighter," FightNews.com quoted Valuev as saying.

Valuev reclaimed his WBA belt in August 2008 after defeating two-time WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz, and then retained his title by beating four-time champion Evander Holyfield of the United States last December.

Thirty-year-old Chagaev (25-0, 17KOs) returned to professional boxing last month to face Carl Davis Drumond (26-1, 20 KOs) in Mecklenburg, Germany. He saw off the previously unbeaten Puerto-Rican in a six-round technical decision.
