Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Alexy II conducted a Holy Liturgy at the Assumption Cathedral in the Kremlin
Commemorating the anniversary of St Peter Metropolitan of Moscow & All Russia the Wonderworker, Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Alexy II conducted a Holy Liturgy at the Assumption Cathedral in the Kremlin. He addressed the believers with New Year's greetings and appealed to them to help other people, including those who suffered from the natural disaster in Asia. "We were all distressed by the news about the natural catastrophe in South East Asia, when thousands of tourists vacationing there fell victims of the disaster. Many survivors of the tragedy need help and support today," Alexy II said. He underlined that "none of us knows when we might find ourselves in a situation when we would also need help and support." "So, let us show sympathy to suffering, grief and tribulations of others. And our Lord will never abandon us in the time of trouble," the Patriarch appealed. "I pray that the Lord blesses our lives in 2005 and grants our Fatherland peace and prosperity, and gives us all good health and happiness."
