Chechen President Alu Alkhanov ordered to rebuilt most important bridges
While looking into reconstruction efforts, Chechen President Alu Alkhanov ordered to have some bridges of particular importance in Chechnya rebuilt by the end of 2005, the Chechen president's press office reported on Monday. "On Monday, the president of Chechnya examined the bridges across the Sunzha in Grozny," said the press office. Mr. Alkhanov said the reconstruction of the bridge on Prospekt Kadyrova in central Grozny should be accelerated and the bridge should be put into operation as early as in the first quarter-year. "After the bridges on the federal road, the bridges Mr. Alkhanov visited [today] are of great importance. Therefore, much attention is being paid to their reconstruction," said the source. The majority of bridges in Chechnya were either totally ruined or heavily damaged during the military campaign. Many of them have been rebuilt already. The bridge near the village of Alkhan-yurt, the bridge in Gudermes and the one across the Martanka river, all being located on the Kavkaz federal motor road, were commissioned late last year, recalled the press service.
